Complete privacy is not something you can expect on today's Internet, but there are many applications out there which can address this issue. A particularly fine example is ShazzleMail, which gives you the possibility of exchanging emails in a secure fashion. It lets you create your own mail server, on your mobile phone, from which you can send emails directly to a recipient. In other words, your messages won't pass through any servers and they won't be stored anywhere but in the sender's and recipient's mailboxes.

The software is distributed in free and paid versions, for Windows and Mac OS X. More importantly, it is available as a free app on Google Play, for Android devices and on Apple's App Store, for iOS devices. Downloading and installing the software is a fairly quick operation. Also, there is no need to sacrifice a significant amount of resources and there is no need to meet any special requirements, apart from a working Internet connection.

The ShazzleMail mobile app has to be installed on a smartphone, otherwise you won't be able to log into the desktop version. On both Windows and OS X, the software looks, feels and works just like a lightweight mail client. It provides you with an inbox, outbox, drafts, sent, spam and trash folders and it lets you create your own folders as well. Emails can be composed on a separate window, on which you can type, attach pictures and other files and make various tweaks.

Besides using a ShazzleMail account to exchange emails, the software lets you import and use your existing mail accounts. The best part is that it can make all the necessary configurations automatically. You only need to make a few simple specifications, like your name, email address or password. Based on your mail address, all the POP and SMTP specifications will be made automatically in the background.

Although it looks and works like a standard mail client, ShazzleMail's key feature is the fact that it lets you create your own mail server on your mobile device. As previously mentioned, it sends and receives emails directly, through an SSL-encrypted channel, without leaving copies of the message on any server.

Pros

You can turn a smartphone into a mail server without any difficulties. The software can exchange emails through an SSL-encrypted channel. ShazzleMail is lightweight, easy to use and it is offered free of charge.

Cons

There are no obvious drawbacks to point out. ShazzleMail enables you to communicate with your friends, family and co-workers, without ever worrying that someone may be listening in.
